Where do we go from here…

With a special thank you to my wife, Kayla and my kids for all their love and support.

I am a simple man, just retired from 30 years of active duty, who finally has time for his passion of capturing the world’s beauty.

I am a son, brother, husband, father, friend, mentor and now a photographer. I am hoping to become better at all the above mentioned with my

new-found freedom.

I enjoyed 25 years working as a nurse practitioner taking care of federal inmates. I spent countless hours talking with men of all ages about what they missed most while being incarcerated. Their responses were mostly of family and friends but a close second was seeing and experiencing the world. Numerous mentioned the ability to see a sunset or sunrise without the glare of razor wire or starry night sky not drowned out by the perimeter lights of the prison. Nearly all of the inmates mentioned they missed a walk in nature, alone and peaceful, space to live, breathe, and think.

As I reflect back on the past 25-30 year career, those are a lot of the same things I missed as well.

I also missed countless bedtimes with my kids to hear about their day, games, concerts, parent- teacher conferences, photos for homecoming and other milestone moments that will never come again. I missed many opportunities to go home and see my parents. Work and the desire to provide for my family took me away from many of the joys in life.

My retirement passion is photography, but it will never take precedence over my family. I love taking pictures, waiting for that perfect shot. I am blessed to have the time to spend with family, traveling to see my kids, and anticipating the opportunity to capture the world’s beauty!

I hope you enjoy the images on my page as much as I enjoyed discovering them.
